Vivid 2013 ~

YAY for another post!
At the beginning of the month, my friends and I decided to check out Vivid. Vivid, if you guys don't know, is a sort of lights festival that is heard in Sydney in early June. Last year it was a month long event but this year they decided to cut it down to 2 weeks. You get artists who produce either light shows, interactive sculptures that play with lights or you have artists that just showcase their artwork around the city. It's just a really great atmosphere to be in.
To start off our night, we decided to grab some dinner at 'Pancakes on the Rocks'. I unfortunately didn't take any photos of this portion of the night but it was good food and good people.
Afterwards, we decided to just walk around and see what we can see/absorb in the time that we had since many of us had to head home early due to commitments the next day. There was a real difference from last year and this year. This year definitely focused on the family friendly aspect with lots and lots of family and young children going around the exhibit. A lot of the stands were interactive involving your sense of touch. In the photos, one of them responded to the heat of your hand changing from the cool blue to a flaming red depending on your temperature. Another one, which was popular with kids, was a light rod one. The rods would change from a light blue to a dark blue as you moved them from one side to the other. A very popular one for families was the Opera House changing its colour. When you looked at the Opera House throughout the night, it would be illuminated by different colours, patterns and video clips. We didn't get to see much of it due to our time constraint but I would have definitely gone back if it ran for longer, especially since last year was so great.
Most of my photos that night were of the harbour since I sadly realised that I don't have any photos of the harbour in my possession.

If you are in Sydney next year around late April- early June, I definitely recommend going to Vivid.
Until next time, keep safe all.
