Foodie Friday: El Loco
YAY for the first 'Foodie Friday'. Under these posts, it was just be a general lowdown about restaurants/cafes that I have recently visited and my general opinion of them. I hope that you find these posts interesting and gives you some ideas to places that you may have not thought of visiting.
For this post, I'll be talking about El Loco located at Slip Inn, 111 Sussex Street Sydney.
From the name, you can hopefully tell that it's a Mexican restaurant where the menu ranges from tacos to hot dogs to nachos to pieces of cooked meat such as steaks or BBQ chicken. I ordered 2 tacos, the al pastor (spit pork) and pollo (chicken), my friend ordering the El Loco hotdog, and chipotle fries to share between us. The food was really good especially for a nice, quick lunch. The tacos had amazing flavours with my favourite of the two being the spit pork. I also really liked the fries but it didn't quite meet the standards of my favourite fries, MCA Cafe fries.
I think what really makes this place special is the ambience and the decor of the restaurant. The places gives off a really festive and happy atmosphere especially the outdoor seating that I passed by on my way out. The decorations are colourful and the colours just jump out to you when you enter into the restaurant portion from the bar area. I think, if you want the full El Loco experience it may be better for you to head in for dinner or later in the way since the outdoor seating area will be fully utilised then. For my next time at El Loco, I will definitely be visiting at night just to see the festive atmosphere of the outdoor seating in full use.
All in all, I would definitely recommend El Loco if you are in Sydney and are in the mood for some Mexican.
Prices range from $6 for individual tacos to $19 for Grilled Fish, BBQ Chicken or Roasted Pork Belly. For more information, check out El Loco website.
