Korea & Japan In-focus: Garden of Morning Calm

Note: this post is very image heavy - sorry about that.

On the 28th of December, I travelled to the 'Garden of Morning Calm'. It took 2.5 hours to reach the location via train and a short taxi ride. We were there for the 'Lighting Festival' that runs from December 6th to March 16th. It costs about $8 for entry into the garden for the festival with the lights turning on at 5:30pm.

Not surprisingly, I really liked all the lights and how pretty the garden was overall. My favourite aspect of the garden would have to be the lit up tunnel. I don't know why I liked it so much but I just did LOL. Throughout the garden, there are features that are made for couples, since Korea is couple central, such as a massive love heart and a Cupid's bow where one partner holds the arrow and the other partner being shot. With the main part of the 'Lighting Festival', pictured above, there are platforms around the edge so that you can take photos of the entire area which is really amazing to see in person.

I would highly recommend that you visit the 'Garden of Morning Calm' even though it's a bit of travel if you are staying within Seoul. I would love to visit the garden again when it is Spring and within Cherryblossom season - that would be absolutely beautiful to see.

Until the next post, remember that the past is gone, the present is here and the future is to be looked forward to.
